Syntheton (unknown)

Mentioned only by Maclean, who says:

The word synthetic has been applied by that imaginative British tonal artist, John Compton, to what is virtually a 2-rank Mixture of stopped metal pipes, the ranks consisting of Tierce and Septiéme. In combination with ranks of other pitches, suitably blended together, synthetic tones of an intriguing variety are originated, to which Mr. Compton applies such names as Syntheton, Baryphone, and Krummhorn. As far as the writer knows, no examples exist on this side of the Atlantic.
Compare with Terzsept.
