Pfeife German

While Audsley lists Pfeife as a synonym for Fife, he also lists it separately, calling it “in the generality of examples, practically identical with the stop named Fife”. While the stop name Pfeife is rarely found alone, it is a very common suffix for German stop names, often seemingly synonymous with the suffix Flöte. Williams states that it is, in most cases, interchangeable with Flöte. The word means “pipe” or “fife”.
