Horn German Hörnli German

Williams describes this stop as follows:

An early 16th-cent. stop found in the Rhineland, Switzerland, etc. with the same contents and function of stops called elsewhere Cornet and Sesquialtera, i.e. a solo flue-Mixture with a Tierce, made of an alloy with much lead (Samber, 1707).

The name Horn is more commonly used as a synonym for French Horn. Compare with Hoorn, Hornle, Fabertone.
