Audsley lists Scharfregal as An old and obsolete lingual stop, of 4 ft. pitch, and very keen intonation, as its name implies. Wedgwood describes it as A Regal of sharp incisive tone, similar to the Messing-Regal. The synonyms Starckregal and Starkregal are mentioned only by Adlung.
