Audsley lists Scharfregal as “An old and obsolete lingual stop, of 4 ft. pitch, and very keen intonation, as its name implies.” Wedgwood describes it as “A Regal of sharp incisive tone, similar to the Messing-Regal.” The synonyms Starckregal and Starkregal are mentioned only by Adlung.
