Mittelflöte German

Described only by Audsley, who says:

This term, which has neither reference to formation nor tonality, has been employed to designate a Flute, of 4 ft. pitch, simply because it occupied a middle position between Flutes of 8 ft. and 2 ft. pitch in the same division of the Organ. This name is a good example of the vagueness and senselessness one too frequently meets with in organ-stop nomenclature.

Adlung lists it, but says only “see Flöte”, and provides no description.
